PMOI Resistance Units: Sovereignty belongs to the Iranian people

2026-03-21 - 10:10

On March 20, as Iranians marked Nowruz, brave activists of the PMOI Resistance Units in the southeastern city of Zahedan launched a defiant anti-regime campaign. Despite the regime’s threats of severe crackdowns under wartime conditions, these activists took to the streets to project a message of readiness and resilience. Through placards and posters, the Resistance Units explicitly reiterated their support for the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) and its Provisional Government. Their core message was unwavering: the Iranian people demand a democratic republic and vehemently reject all forms of dictatorship, whether past or present. The voice of the streets: “Neither shah nor mullahs” The slogans displayed across Zahedan highlighted a century-long struggle for democratic governance. Placards read, “For a hundred years, the main war in Iran is between freedom and the tyranny of the shah and mullahs’ regimes.” March 20—Zahedan, southeast Iran PMOI Resistance Units mark Nowruz with anti-regime activities, reiterating their support for the NCRI's Provisional Government and a democratic republic that rejects all forms of dictatorship.#No2ShahNo2Mullahs pic.twitter.com/nmr156XZXg — People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) (@Mojahedineng) March 21, 2026 The activists firmly warned against letting remnants of monarchical fascism hijack the democratic revolution. “All of the futile efforts of the son of the Shah inside Iran ended up benefiting the son of the mullah Mojtaba Khamenei,” one message stated, emphasizing that “The sovereignty of the people of Iran is not the inheritance of the mullahs and the shah.” Uniting citizens of diverse ethnic backgrounds and political leanings, the Resistance Units made it known that the Iranian people “will not bargain with anyone over their freedom and sovereignty.” They insist on a future guided strictly by the “no to shah, no to mullahs” principle. The NCRI’s Provisional Government This grassroots mobilization follows a major political initiative by the Iranian Resistance. On February 28, 2026, amid sweeping foreign military strikes targeting the regime’s military and nuclear infrastructure, the NCRI formally announced the formation of a Provisional Government. Crucially, the Provisional Government does not seek to seize power but aims exclusively to transfer sovereignty back to the Iranian people. Its political foundation is Mrs. Maryam Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan, which completely rejects absolute clerical rule (velayat-e faqih) and guarantees universal suffrage, complete gender equality, the abolition of the death penalty, and the total dissolution of suppressive entities like the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Ministry of Intelligence. The brave Nowruz activities in Zahedan prove that religious fascism cannot escape its impending downfall. Through national solidarity and unity against both the ruling religious dictatorship and the remnants of monarchic fascism, the Iranian people are charting their own course. As the Resistance Units proudly proclaimed, in these dark and dangerous times, the light of resistance and uprising shows the true path to freedom. Soon, the volcano of the people’s rage, alongside the organized Resistance, will dismantle the dictatorship and establish a free, democratic republic.
